Boost your Immune System Using this Acupressure Point

Lung 1 Acupressure Point

When the going gets tough, the tough get going and to me at this current time that means doing everything in my power to stay healthy, well and sane!

It’s the first point on the Lung meridian, so it’s an effective point for relieving symptoms related to your lungs such as breathing difficulties, asthma, cough and chest tension, especially the upper chest. It can help to boost and strengthen the immune system as the Lungs are part of the Immune system in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

It’s also poetically named the “Letting Go” point in TCM. A good reminder that it’s useful when we need to let go of thoughts, feelings and emotions that we may be holding onto. It’s also very helpful for grief. Grief is the emotion we feel when we let go of something we are attached to. Rubbing this point when we are feeling sad can help us to move through and release our grief.

It’s so easy to bring this point into your self care routine. You can find Lung 1 by coming down from the top of your shoulder approximately 3 fingers width into the hollow under your collar bone. Hold and rub the point in a circular motion while taking some nice deep relaxing breaths.

Focus your mind on letting go of whatever it is you need to release at this point in your life. Start with releasing any fear or anxiety you may be feeling. This is such a wonderful mindful exercise that will bring your mind back into the present as well as helping to strengthen your Lung Qi and in doing so boost your immune system.
